Death at Home
When a natural death occurs at home, it is proper to contact the funeral home after a healthcare professional has pronounced the deceased. After you call us, we will transfer the deceased to the funeral chapel.
Death at a Hospital, Nursing Home or Hospice
If death occurs at any of these facilities, either the family, nursing home or hospice will contact the funeral chapel.
Death Occurring in Another State or Country
If death occurs at another state or country, call Louis Suburban Chapel and we will make all the necessary arrangements to have the deceased transferred to our chapel.
One-time Social Security Death Payment
There is a one-time payment of $255 that can be made upon the person's death, if he or she has worked long enough. This payment can be made only to the surviving spouse, or minor children, if they meet certain requirements. For more information visit The Official Website of the U.S. Social Security Administration
If appropriate, at the time of death, we will notify the Veterans Administration. The Veterans Administration does not provide any payment for funeral services, but may provide:
$300 VA Cash Benefits for Reimbursement of Burial Expenses
$1,500 Active Duty or Service Connected Death Benefit
$150 Burial Plot Allowance
Headstone or Marker
Burial at a National Cemetery
